Zero makes their way through the fortress, dodging guards for the most part. Unfortunately, one guard sees through their ruse. Though they are captured temporarily, they are able to make a smooth getaway by distracting the guard and disarming him. They run off and continue their search, eventually finding a strange room. The floor is etched with runes and constellations, a large brazier in the center of the room. At the edge of the room is a locked door.
Meanwhile, Trix is escorted to their grandfather’s bedchamber, where the Emperor awaits near a desk that’s situated at the center of the room. He beckons Trix closer and they notice that he’s looking at a large tome that is openly on display. Across the pages are names and dates, all the handwriting appears very different. The Emperor tells Trix that the tome is their lineage, and asks Trix to sign. When Trix agrees, the Emperor hands them a dagger, an ink bottle and a quill. An agreement of blood and ink. Signature made, Trix is allowed to return to their chambers and get some rest.
Floating in limbo, Rou has been able to watch everything, and struggles to call out to Trix during the ritual. Realizing he can’t talk to Trix, he takes a closer look at his surroundings and notices he’s trapped in a hazy force field, almost a barrier. He notices that something has caused wear and tear, and the barrier is weak in spots. Rou uses this weakness to his advantage and begins to inch closer toward the dagger made from his tooth.
