Special acapella introductory theme ends [00:30]
Gentle piano music fades in [00:33]
Dax: Heads up that this special episode is going to contain spoilers for the latest season. So, if you want to avoid those, I highly recommend you pause this episode and come back to it when you're ready. Okay, I think it's safe to assume if you're still here you aren't worried about spoilers. So, let's hop into it.
So, here we are once again at our annual talkback episode where we are going to be talking about what happened in season seven and maybe even talking a little bit about what might be coming down the road for season eight. We've also got some audience sent in questions that we are going to be talking about at the end of this episode, so make sure you stay tuned all the way through to the end and find out what our responses are to those. Welcome back, players. I know it's been a bit since we've sat down and been together for a recording.
Kappa: That was a good time.
Wren: Mhmm, mhmm.
Dax: So, season seven is wholly different, well, maybe not wholly different, but a little bit different than what we've been doing so far, because we had a new character joining us in season seven.
Kappa: That was this season, yeah? That was this season.
Sebastian: That was this season, you're right. Wow. Yeah.
Kappa: Wow, okay. Okay.
Dax: You know, first, right off the bat, like, I mean, we kicked off the season kind of following up with Rou and Trix's response to losing Eight and everything that happened with Talbain and Umé. And kind of revealed narratively what had happened with the children. When we brought in this new character, Elaith, I got to know, what do you think your character's first impression was of this new PC? Because Elaith certainly has a different demeanor and attitude than Eight did.
Kappa: I think it's very much like, at least with Rou, Elaith came in and Rou treats all of the people that he comes across like a potential friend, you know? Like, the same way that guest character… like, we, the players, know that this person is going to be sticking around for a while, but the characters don't, so in Rou's mind, this is just another person much like with the people that they met on their adventures.
Someone to be a new contact, a new acquaintance, a new friend, you know, someone that… like, that sort of demeanor that he's picked up from hanging out with Eight so much. I think very early on, the first one to be like ‘Yeah, no, we’re friends. This is my friend.’ You know? Yeah, it's pretty simple. I think when it comes to Rou, this person is a new friend and if they stick around, that's great.
Sebastian: I think for Trix, since hanging out a lot more with Rou and Eight, they've come to view people less as colleagues and more as potential friends. Although, I have to say that Elaith’s start was not exactly illustrious. They were trapped -
Kappa: [chuckles] Yeah.
Sebastian: - in like a cage on a wagon. And Trix was like, "Okay, I mean, I guess since we're here, we can help." But they weren't expecting Elaith to join them in any capacity, especially because this is a situation that Trix could have got themselves out of. And so they didn't necessarily have a lot of respect for Elaith in this situation. Especially since Elaith immediately made it known that, you know, they are someone who is very cerebral and very intellectual and Trix has very little patience with people who think that they're smarter than others. So, it's been really interesting to play with that friction.
Kappa: [trying not to laugh] Is that a Trix thing or is that a you thing?
Sebastian: That's a Trix thing. I mean, it's a little bit of a me thing, but, you know, to my own credit, I only have an issue with that when it is not warranted. If someone is genuinely smarter than me, then fine, but like if they're just wrong about everything, I'm just gonna be like, "Okay, you're a jerk." Sure.
Dax: Yeah, that's valid. Yeah.
Kappa: Same, but I feel like I've grown past that a little bit, but there's still a lot of that.
Sebastian: Yeah. I've grown past it enough to challenge it when it happens, but there's still the initial like, oh my god, fuck you.
Dax: Yeah, for somebody who was found in a cage and kind of left to not-so-great a situation, Elaith did have a bit of an attitude right off the bat. [laughs] But I loved it. Wren, what do you think? I mean, honestly, what do you think Elaith's first impressions of Rou and Trix were at the start of the season
Wren: Oh, boy, well… I think Elaith’s first impression of Rou was just very much like, okay, you're very friendly. What's your deal? And that's a bit of a naive outlook. To have something you know, very akin to probably a lot of the way that a lot of characters would have looked at Eight over the past few seasons? And since Rou had kind of adopted a similar outlook, it was something that Elaith was challenging in their head.
And then, as far as Trix goes, there is a respect for someone who can do certain types of clandestine activities well. But then there's also the realistic aspect of, okay, this person does shady shit. How do I feel about that? And navigating a balance between thank you for saving me, thank you for using your skills to do something for me. But also, why do you have those skills? Just what kind of person are you? And there's been kind of a little bit of trying to eke out an understanding of what each of these characters are actually like beyond the initial first impressions.
Dax: Yeah, I think that's absolutely fair. Speaking of first impressions, so, you know, the group decided, oh, we're gonna travel together for whatever reason, you know, maybe it's the fact that I have great players and they all understand what their mission is outside of the improv portion of things, but y'all went to Liam's. Rou was like, hey, I know somebody that lives kind of around here, and he's smart, and he can help us out, and this is the first time that two out of the three of you have met this person, and I know that Trix was not impressed right off the bat, because, you know, there was that I think there was a joke about, "oh, great, another rich person" kind of thing, and, like, Trix's bullshitometer was going off, but then, to be fair, Liam's bullshitometer was going off for Trix and Elaith.
Kappa: Yeah, it is bullshit, right?
Dax: There was a lot of spish analysis going on in those episodes. And right off the bat, we kind of are… are introduced to Liam's suspicions about Elaith. Which kind of forced Elaith into this position of, like, okay, maybe I got to reveal a little bit of my secret. Any thoughts on that whole Liam, like, set of episodes, and how your characters approach things with keeping what secrets they could, or even Rou's memorial for Eight. I mean, any, any thoughts on those that you wanna share, or maybe even things you wish you could have done?
Kappa: I think, uh… as you were talking, like, something prescient came to mind. I think Rou was very much just a tiny bit disappointed from Trix and Elaith's reaction to Liam, because Rou's like,
Kappa (as Rou): This is… this is my wizard friend! I've got a wizard friend! Ooh, look at me, I have a friend who's a wizard!
Wren: [laughing] Whoa!
Kappa: So when it's like the awe and that wasn't reciprocated that he had from meeting a wizard for the first time. Uh, well, it wasn't reciprocated, I think that was just ever so slightly disappointing, but Rou is Rou, right? He's going through a lot, he's not going to let that dictate his whole thing, but that's one thing that I'm like, personally, I regret not highlighting, because it definitely was a part of Rou's emotional suite during that time. I think it would have been funny, but I also think it would have thrown off the balance a little bit, and we wouldn't have been able to focus on some of the other stuff that was going on, so, kind of rationalizing myself through it, I think it was the right choice.
Wren: With the, the, the, little memorial to Eight. I thought that whole scene, that whole... yeah, that whole scene was pretty touching, I mean, it was kind of hard because Rou didn't really have much of Eight to utilize... Not that you necessarily need to have remains to make a memorial to your friend, but there is that piece of having like a tangible expression of your attachment to someone that really helps kind of solidify putting something to rest, or acting as a metaphorical representation of leaving that piece of your past...not behind, but in a state where you can properly mourn and grieve for it. And I think that that scene was touching in that sense of leaving behind that character, but also, starting to put into place the new role that Rou is playing as one of the scions of Bahu. And starting to focus more on memorials and what people do when they let go of a friend or a loved one. So, I thought that was kind of a cool nod to a new direction to the character as well.
Sebastian: Yeah, I liked the description that you had at the end with, uh, there was some golden light, and there was a butterfly, right, Dax?
Dax: Yeah, I think there was a butterfly and a hedgehog too. It was very nature-themed.
Kappa: Oh, the hedgehog, yeah.
Sebastian: Yeah. Yes, the hedgehog. Yes. Oh, it makes me wonder if there's something else going on with that –
Dax: Oh, maybe!
Sebastian: And if we will see any ripples later. But I think as far as Liam and that whole series of episodes is concerned, I really liked Rou and Trix trying to eavesdrop on Elaith and Liam.
[Kappa and Wren laugh]
Kappa and Wren: [at the same time] Yeah!
Sebastian: Because I don't think we did a particularly subtle job of it, but we did glean some amount of information and we had this kind of moment to be a little comedic and a little bit silly, but also like. You know, we're genuinely trying to get information out of this, and, you know, in my head, I have this kind of, like, Looney Tunes-style, like, picture of us, like, kind of, you know, ear pressed to the wall kind of thing.
Dax: Oh, 100%.
Kappa: With the glass, just…
Sebastian: Yeah, with like the kind of cone shape to like, listen, yeah, amplify the sound. Yeah, and I think in terms of Liam, you're right, Trix was not super impressed about the, oh, another rich person, oh, you know, cause like. They know that, like, being a wizard is expensive. Like, you have to study, you have to be able to go to wizard school or get wizard books, or I don't know how expensive spell components and fancy ink and stuff, and Trix is like, "I don't know anyone who's a wizard." Like, I mean, you know, maybe my family had wizards before we got exiled, so they're coming in with a lot of preconceived notions of what kind of person can be a wizard and what a wizard might be like.
They weren't expecting a vampire wizard, though. And once they figured out the whole vampire situation, they were like, oh, and I'm gonna give this person a vial of my blood, and they're not gonna be able to- they realized that at a certain point, they were not going to be able to bullshit Liam anymore. Because there's just, you know, the blood doesn't lie, you know, like, he's going to find out. So, and then they, you know- I had a lot of fun playing out the kind of realization that actually, if I want to get any sort of help with this blood oath, I'm going to need to be honest with them... with him.
Dax: I personally loved the... in that end episode of that arc of Trix and Liam kind of having that two lions, like, stalking around each other kind of scene, where you know, you're really, like, poking at the other person and trying to...trying to see where the boundaries lie, and I just thought that was a great, like, final interaction, because you're both bluffing, and bluffing so well, and it was- I thought it was just a good little- the bravado for Trix was- was pretty entertaining for that last episode. And then, of course, poor Rou trying to make the roast suckling pig, and then thinking Liam -
Kappa: Yeah! [chuckles]
Dax: - got sick off of his cooking. It was so good.
Kappa: Yeah, that was such a good moment, I think. Part of me is, like, where does Rou see himself in terms of, like, power level? Like, like, like, capability compared to Liam, right? Because Liam is a wizard, he could do anything. But, with the whole vampire reveal, it's like, oh, there's way more that I don't know that I don't know when it comes to Liam. I think as the player, I'm starting to feel that too, I'm, like, is Liam, like, this world sorcerer Supreme? Like, is he holding reality together? We don't know!
Wren: Yeah, what's his deal? When did he become a vampire? Who's his vampire sire?
Kappa: Has he always been a vampire? Don't answer that, but...
Dax: I don't know, there might be some bonus content coming before season eight that might address some of those questions, who knows?
Kappa: [exuberantly] Ooh!
Dax: Alright, so after Liam's arc, we introduced a new NPC for the party: Captain Lucy and her first mate, Sam, who, uh, if y'all have been listening to the episodes, hopefully you've picked up that Sam is modeled after, uh, in Muppet Treasure Island, Sam the Eagle as first mate, um, you know, I've been trying to not be so subtle on my hints there. So, Captain Lucy. Y'all did some unscrupulous things to try and get some money for passage. You made a very interesting deal, promised quite a bit… to get to Nadros.
[Wren laughs]
Wren: We made a bunch of promises, we literally -
Sebastian: We made a bunch of promises.
Wren: - and had no idea if they would pan out.
Kappa: I think we built that in! [laughing] I think we've built it in. We were like, yeah, you get half of whatever we find. And we found very little!
Wren: Mhmm, mhmm.
Dax: Well, you found a lot, just nothing you could actually like, you know, give to the captain.
Kappa: Yeah, we'll give you half of the knowledge, like -
Wren: - that we can't share.
Kappa: That we can't share, yeah.
Dax: So yeah, so Captain Lucy, you know, y'all got on the ship with her, you learned some things from the sailors, like how to tie knots, uh, in Elaith's case, immediately how to clean a ship latrine. Which, I have learned of this is a little side tangent, but this is the good thing about these talkbacks. So, I have learned that there actually is a more or less latrine on most galley ships.
Kappa: Mm.
Dax: So, you would go to, like, the prow, where there would be some planks missing, and you would straddle over the planks and use some rope maybe to help stabilize you, but mostly for wiping, right? Not the easiest thing, certainly, I guess, more sanitary than a bucket?
Kappa: That's a good, like, quad workout.
Dax: Yeah…
Wren: Yeah.
Kappa: Core. Yeah, work your core.
Dax: [laughing] Yeah.
Wren: Go work leg day to day.
Kappa: Yeah!
Dax: Oh, God. Um…
Kappa: Today's the day I poop. Oh, good. Have a good workout.
Sebastian: Oh, God.
Dax: But yeah, just a little fact for you, um the trip was not as pleasant as the group maybe hoped for? I don't know, I mean we've hinted several times in this series that Nadros is a very dangerous island to get to and the party learned very quickly why that might be with the, uh, "Terror of the Deep" episode. The crew of The Trickster had to survive what lurks in the depths of the sea, and I threw a monster at y'all that seemed to please with the tentacles and the teeth and the -
Kappa: It was it was sick as fuck.
Sebastian: It was great!
Kappa: It was so cool.
Sebastian: It was so good. I think Trix feels a little bit bad because, technically speaking, you know, they had this kind of explosive arrow, it, like, blew up the tentacle monster. And, you know, that was a kind of, like, in all of their adventures that they've had with Rou and now with Elaith, there's been a kind of, you know, pattern to the adventure. As in, you know, there's a problem, we go in, we solve it, people end up happy, mostly. You know.
There's a certain amount of: "Ooh, like maybe this adventuring life isn't so bad after all, because I'm getting much more, um, you know, I'm getting to meet more people openly. And I don't have to do, like, you know, it doesn't have to be, like, this invisible, shady work or anything." And, so, under any other circumstance, you know, slaying a monster with the biggest explosive arrow, that's a very big heroic moment, but they weren't able to do that until after... was it 16% of the crew had died?
Dax: Yeah.
Sebastian: And that didn't feel good for them. They were a bit upset about that and that's like, oh, well, you know, I managed to do that, but it wasn't in time to save people, and so that was an interesting thing to grapple with. Also, because they didn't really get to figure out Captain Lucy's deal until then, until they saw the display of sorcery that she was able to do. And yeah, that really helped in terms of understanding like where they stood with Captain Lucy, and also what Captain Lucy is capable of. And, you know, it also did show, like, remarkable leadership on captain Lucy's part, and Trix is always able to recognize a good leader and be like, okay, you know, this person cares for the people who are underneath them. Like, that's really important to them.
Dax: Yeah, I still can't believe y'all actually went through and did the math. You're like, what is that like 12% of the crew? Like, what is that?
[Kappa laughs]
Wren: Every able body that is lost is very important.
Dax: Mhmm.
Wren: Not only from a logistical standpoint, but from an emotional standpoint as well.
Dax: Absolutely.
Wren: And then Rou givin’ last rites to those guys too.
Kappa: Mmm, yeah.
Dax: Mhmm.
Wren: That we, that was another, another case of death. That we had to deal with. You know, I feel like this season has been focusing an awful lot on death.
Kappa: [Incredulously] What?
Wren: [Incredulously] What?
Kappa: The first full season with a scion of.. [chuckles] the scion of death? It does revolve around themes of death? What? Who approved any of this?
Dax: Who approved that? You did.
Wren: How'd this get into our podcast?
Dax: Y'all landed on Nadros more or less safely, ship having taken a little damage in that big fight, and of course losing more than 10% of the crew. So, you got to Nadros, and learned very quickly that it is not only hard to get to, but it is a very dangerous island to be on. Let's see, we dealt with a giant snake. Trix almost getting eaten by a giant snake.
Rou and Elaith have...having to climb on top of very wet rocks to get behind a waterfall to find, you know, some strange occurrences of someone who died there years ago, and I think there was a little bit of a slipping and sliding and falling there. Which could have ended very badly had the dice been meaner. Uh, let's see, we had what is essentially, like, lightning quicksand that y'all ran afoul of, you ran afoul of plants that imitated a crying person to lure their prey in closer.
Wren: That was wild.
Kappa: That's… yeah, that was… that was good. That was terrifying.
Wren: What kind of plant develops that type of luring technique? A monstrous plant, that's very, very scary.
Kappa: When you think about it in the context of our world, that had to be evolved for like that was... But if you think about it in the context of a magical world, which fucking wizard was evil enough to enchant some plants to cry like, like, like a human being? Or like a mortal being, like both of those origin stories are awful bad.
Sebastian: And then didn’t it turn out that like secret third option? It's one of the island's natural defenses, because we met Ashaña?
Dax: Yeah, I was going to hop into that as our guest of the arc, uh, season was Nala J. Wu. Jae did a lot of planning with me coming up with Ashaña as the guardian of Nadros, and yeah, as you said, Sebastian, like, it was revealed that part of the whole reason why the plant life and the animal life wanted to go after you is because you are intruders on the island, and they are an extension of Ashaña. So, let's take a pause and talk about our guest for season seven and reactions to the character, and what Jae brought to the table.
Wren: Real fucking good descriptions.
Kappa: Yeah. Jae's really good at giving you a visual and evoking an emotion through their description. Like we're supposed to be awed by this character. We're supposed to think this character is very, very like, a little scared of this character, but also, like, this character is really freaking cool. And if you go back and listen to it, there is a lot of gravity in just the content of what they were describing when it came to Ashaña. So, that was really cool.
Wren: I think part of the fun of the character was that there's this reveal, this, this assumption that Ashaña had been watching and following the characters for a while? Enough to know their names and, like, differentiate between them. And there was, at least for my part, there was this feeling of something larger than life to this character when he appeared. And the way she talked and carried herself and they were just like on a completely different level than us, as far as comfort in the wilderness and how to navigate the island and things like that. It was a case where the three of our characters looked and felt out of our depth when speaking to this- this new character.
Sebastian: Trix is so confident in like urban/city environments. Nature is very much not their thing. They've also become used to living somewhat comfortably ever since the, uh, theft of a lot of dollars from Sparrow's Landing. You know, because, you know, we're really living it up. We were staying in nice taverns, we had a wagon, you know, we had possessions to put in the wagon. It was pretty good. I think that Ashaña really, unlike Trix's experience on the island, really brought to the forefront the discomfort of being in the wilderness. That's just not something that their work has ever, like, somewhere where their work has ever taken them.
And it was kind of like a reckoning with like almost, well, supernatural power from Trix's perspective. Like, you know, this is not, you know, there aren't really- there wasn't really a point of reference for them to have when interacting with Ashaña and when interacting with these, uh, with the natural world. So, it was really interesting and it was just really cool to meet Ashaña, because ze was someone who deeply, deeply cared about the island and took their role as guardian very, very seriously. And it was just really cool to see the development of trust that Ashaña had in the party, you know, because we kind of- we- I really felt like we had to prove ourselves to him in that way. And it was really cool to actually see that being played out over multiple episodes.
Dax: Yeah, I agree. I know when Jae and I were planning, um, you know, I've mentioned this before in other talkbacks, but when I bring on a guest, my first question is always, well, like, well, what do you want to bring to the story? You know, how do you want to contribute and I can make the arc work around you, and so Jae and I had a lot of back and forth with what, you know, they wanted to accomplish, and what, uh, based off of what Jae would offer, I would say, well, hey, I've got this connection we could make in the game, which is kind of how Ashaña's relation to, um, the character that Eight used to call "Mother" and that whole past ended up coming about. And Jae was very much about, like, I want this character to be kind of antagonistic right at the front, I want- I want the character to, you know, really, like, not quite trust, Rou, Trix, and Elaith, and I wanna… I wanna be able to play that out, and I think all four of you really did that in what felt like a more natural way. It didn't feel like it was being pushed on the characters. So, I definitely agree with you, Sebastian, on that.
We also got to bring Umé back in Jae's arc and reveal what the connection is there and you got to learn a little bit more about this deity that has been imprisoned. And your characters were shown information that you shouldn't technically have been shown. So, we haven't really seen the repercussions yet, that we know of, about what is going to be going on with the characters and learning that information that they've been shown. Whether they committed it to memory or not, right? So that whole arc was- was a very interesting, uh, interesting little, little side diversion on Nadros, and- hey! You got to leave with the plant that Elaith wanted to leave with. So, I mean, that's at least a good thing. Now the hard part of getting Elaith back home, to actually see if the plant works. Okay, so the next thing, y'all went to leave Nadros and despite Captain Lucy's disappointment that these hoard piles of treasure that were promised her and her crew. Making promises you can't deliver party.
Wren: Buyer beware.
Sebastian: A mistake we made and one we will inevitably make again.
Dax: Probably.
Sebastian: But she did seem to like the compass that we gave her was very, very nice, though.
Dax: Yeah, you had a nice compass. Trix kept the really cool box it came in.
[Dax and Kappa chuckle]
Wren: The puzzle box!
Sebastian: Yes, yeah, I'm imagining the vexing puzzle box.
Wren: And Captain Lucy was all like, [in a high-pitched voice] ‘I'm scared’.
Dax: Who said she was scared?
Wren: She was acting strange.
Dax: Doesn't mean she was scared.
Wren: Well she was something!
Dax: She was something.
Wren: She wouldn't tell us what, so I'm just gonna assume it's scared.
[Kappa laughs]
Dax: Yeah, Captain Lucy was acting weird when you went to leave, and y'all went off on what should have been a nice little...I get the theme song from Gilligan's Island stuck in my head every time I think about this episode where it's like you supposed to be like essentially a three hour tour and then you run into a massive storm. And somehow, somehow...you ended up on the other side of the world.
Kappa: Yeah, that's still…
Sebastian: Yeah, that was nuts. That was wild.
Kappa: Yeah, I'm like, that still gets me. I'm like, there's gotta be portals or, or something?
Dax: Or something, indeed.
Kappa: Or some, like…
Wren: Gasp, godly influence?
Kappa: Yeah, like a giant turtle? I don't know.
Dax: I mean, maybe.
Wren: Oh yeah, like Majora's Mask.
Kappa: Yeah, something like that.
Dax: I like how of all the mythology and all the folklore that uses giant turtles, that's the one that you went after was Majora's Mask? [laughs]
Kappa: It's in Majora's Mask, right?
Wren: Yeah, just like Majora's Mask.
Kappa: Yeah. It was in Avatar... but yeah, I feel like it came through in the episode. I hyper-focused on that part. I tried to like, I remember asking is this "flat earth theory" going on, like, is that something? No, we've already they figured out that the- that this planet is round. Like, they've already figured out- did we go around? No, the route that we took. Anyway, I'm still kind of like there's something going on here, and I don't know how much it pertains to where our characters are and what our characters are currently facing right now, but...something.
Dax: I will say that there have been hints as to what's going on. And I have, you know, like, as I said, it is technically possible, assuming the waves got big enough for you to get there naturally, but I have implied that there is something not quite natural about how you ended up there.
Wren: That's right, folks. Go back and listen to the episodes, and put your own theories together. Let us know in the comments.
[Dax laughs]
Kappa: Really fast tectonic plate movement. Just lightning speed.
Dax: Just lift up and throw the boat. So, you ended up on a new island. A mysterious island where -
Kappa: Nadros two.
Dax: Nadros 2.0, where y'all ran into a settlement of walking, animated skeletons.
Wren: Bone Town.
Kappa and Dax: [at the same time] Bone Town.
Wren: [chanting] Bone town, Bone Town!
Kappa: I thought that was really cool. I think it came across that I really like what was set up there. It was very, I want to say like very cinematic, very, um, you can- you can tell just how excited Rou is to be here.
Wren: Elaith, not so much. As we've kind of been uncovering more and more of the secrets of Seaport a.k.a Bone Town, there is...there's a lot of sadness involved with this whole story. This town of people that are forced to relive the last day of their lives over and over and over again in perpetuity.
Dax: Again!
Wren and Dax: [at the same time] Death.
Wren: Exactly! There's the initial shock of, oh my god, all these people are dead! And then it kind of turns into, "What killed all these people? Oh, these people are reliving their lives. That's real, real crappy. Arcazar was kind of a dick for what he did, but also what choice did he have?" Um, so it's kind of like there's a lot of nuance to the story that we're kind of seeing and I'm enjoying that.
Dax: Yeah, I really do enjoy how Arcazar went, like, at the start. It's like, oh, cool, there's this wizard that came to help out the people, then over the course of the episodes, it's come to Arcazar as a jerk. Arcazar is terrible. He made some really bad choices.
Sebastian: I feel like that was a journey we kind of got to experience alongside, well, the people of the town because they were, because, you know, we saw that newspaper article and it was just like, oh, how exciting this wizard is coming to our town. You know, they were so hyped for this guy, and they also have no idea what fate befell them, because he made sure that they didn't, and so we kind of got to experience, like, oh yeah, we're hyped for this wizard, as well. And then we found out the truth of what actually happened. So that was kind of cool, like, to get that parallel.
Dax: Yeah, that's a good way to look at it, Sebastian. I didn't even think of it that way, but you raise a good point, that you really did kind of experience what the people of Seaport experienced in a manner, but in a much condensed timeframe. So it's a good point.
Wren: And now we have to worry about succumbing to the same fate.
Kappa: Nah! Nah!
[Kappa and Wren laugh]
Wren: Couldn't be, nah.
Sebastian: Nah! No, I mean, I mean, yeah, RIP to Bone Town, but we're built different.
Dax: It's one of those moments where I wish that we had cameras, because the eye raise that I just made...
Kappa: [laughing] Yeah! Yeah.
Dax: Look Bahu who got tricked to take you on as a scion. I am sure he would raise no qualms about having you back in the fold, right?
Kappa: Tricked? I'm a treasure.
Dax: I'm a treasure. It's the first thing you did upon meeting death. You got uppity.
[Kappa and Dax laugh]
Wren: Do you think Bahu would be real pissed off if Rou did die and he had to spend eternity with Rou.
[Dax and Kappa laugh]
Kappa: I think so. I think… he'd come around. I think he'd come around. It would take longer than most NPCs that we've come across but he'd come around.
Dax: So, speaking of Bahu, so over the course of the episodes where you've been, you know, the last several episodes of the season, where you've been kind of unraveling the mystery of, uh, the fate of Seaport and the tragedy that happened there, you learn that they found this mysterious object in the mines that Arcazar had been brought over to kind of inspect it. Arcazar realized that this is a really powerful, not so great item, and devised a way to hopefully contain it until somebody could come and take care of it, right?
It's not the best decision ever, let's be honest. But, you know, the decision he made, and now the party's kind of stuck with the ramifications of it. And, you know, you've learned a little bit about this object called the Eye of Yuné. Where you now are dealing with Arcazar's sassy cat familiar who is trying her best to keep her location hidden, but I mean, y'all have some clues as to where she is, if you really wanted to go find her.
Kappa and Dax: [at the same time] It's a tower!
Wren: Somewhere, yeah.
Dax: Well, no you know where, because I remember Wren got really excited when it was revealed where this wizard is coming from.
Wren: Mhmm, mhmm.
Kappa: Yeah.
Dax: But you've got this this orb that supposedly messes with people's memory. And you did have a couple of instances that your characters ran into of, like, basically having pockets of your memory, not necessarily wiped, but you don't really remember what's going on and how you ended up where you were. You know, not only that, but the party is running on complete exhaustion. You know, they're pretty hungry at this point –
Kappa: Yeah.
Dax: They haven't really eaten much outside of some rations, and, you know, some wild garlic and onions that they found growing in the town hall.
Wren: A Bloomin' Onion.
Kappa: Yeah!
Dax: You've been plagued with nightmares and all sorts of, I mean, this just, this island is just the worst. It's like Nadros times ten. Right? But then Rou gets tricked in the season finale; tricked into learning how to summon his patron.
Kappa: I think, yeah, not necessarily tricked, just, like, sneakily elucidated, I think. Helped!
Dax: I know y'all made a joke about it in the session. But...
Wren: It's just like Beetlejuice.
Dax: Just like Beetlejuice.
Kappa: Yeah!
Wren: Or Bloody Mary, or the Candyman.
Dax: Yeah, but less mirrors. But still, point is, and, I mean, if you think about it, there have been a couple of times this season where Rou has tried contacting Bahu. I think it was on Nadros was one of the times where, like, Rou just, like, called out into the wilderness and then just waited and hoped something would happen. Not unlike when Trix was trying to determine the use of their blood oath, and, like, I think it was you cut your palm or something like that? I wanna say, just to see what would happen. Now you know how to summon Bahu, which makes sense when you think about it, because part of the whole lore about this deity. You're not supposed to say his name. Right? And Rou has just been casually throwing it around ever since he came back, you know, like, what does he care?
Kappa: Yeah, he wasn't raised with religion. He doesn't know.
Dax: Well, at least not this religion, that's for sure. [laughs] The question now becomes players, you have Death in the room with you. You have a cursed object you need to find a way to do something with. What do you all think is in store for you or what would you like to see in store for you as a result of summoning Death to this island? To this plane of existence?
Kappa: I don't think it's really much of a want from Rou, more of a- I hope I don't have to make yet another bargain, you know? I don't know what else Rou could possibly give. I don't think he knows what he could possibly give. This thing didn't come with an instruction manual, you know? So, honestly, I think that's- I think it would be kind of cool to see what would happen with that, but I think that's where Rou's at. What I would like is just some cool, like, he comes in, and he's like, I could do magic shit. Buh buh buh buh! And then -
Wren: He just shows up like the Genie? [laughs]
Kappa: Yeah, he shows up like the Genie. [Laughs] I was gonna say he shows up like Gandalf and, like, amplifies his voice, but that's about it. But no, I think a full dance of, like, music video.
Wren: Music number, yeah. For- for my part as a player, I think it would be kind of cool to see the presence of Death having some effect on the undead that's already present in the in the nearby area. Whether that be giving them sentience about what's going on or summoning them to where Death is, or I don't know, but I think it would be cool for there to be some kind of effect that he, uh, that this entity has on the overall area around them.
Sebastian: Trix has not actually thought what they wanted out of- out of this whole interaction because they kind of weren't expecting Bahu to show up or respond, because the previous times that the party has suggested, oh, just ask Bahu, just, just get Bahu, just talk to Bahu, like, nothing's come of it. And, so, Trix hasn't really had, up until now, a lot of a reason to interact with or think about the divine. But now, with the whole blood oath being, you know, with the- the blood of a god, and now we're finding, like, godly artifacts, and now Rou is like the scion of Bahu...
They're having to reckon with the idea that some things in life are just so completely outside of their control. And right now they're wondering, like, you know, how does this whole deity worship thing work? Like, do you ask them for things? Do they ask you for things? Like, do you have to prove that you're devout? Like, what does it mean to be devout? Like, this is kind of like a whole- Trix is like, I don't really know how religion works, kind of thing. Because I think that they- they haven't really had a good reason to have much faith in the gods, I mean, because obviously they exist without, uh, without a doubt, but, like, they've never had a faith of any kind.
Dax: Yeah, and I know there's been some, you know, assumptions and implications about that in, I think, season...season six? I think, when Trix got some information from a deity on how to… to revive Rou. Or bring Rou back. So, I mean, like, yeah, that's totally fair.
Sebastian: Yeah, you’re right that did happen. That was a god thing. That was kind of also a bit of a miracle, to be honest. Uh, yeah, Trix still kind of doesn't really know what they did to cause that. They were just really desperate to get Rou back.
Kappa: I also really like y'all's side of this conversation, because at the moment, like Rou is on the phone with the cat and you just hear him say "Bahu" three times and not understanding what happened. We just have a deity in the room with us now!
Dax: I was literally just about to say the same thing. Yeah, essentially, Rou is, like, on the phone, and you're hearing one side of that conversation, so, thank you for bringing that up, Kappa, really.
Wren (as Elaith): Did you get tricked by a cat?
[Kappa chuckles]
Dax: I love Harriet, too, like, I'm sorry, like, she's one of the one of the sillier NPCs that I've- I've brought in in the last couple of seasons, I think, and I'm really enjoying playing that cat. So, yeah, we left off season seven rather abruptly with the arrival of Death, which means we'll have to pick up with season eight in- in a very strange situation, but it is the mailbag portion of this episode. So we did get a couple of, emails from folks out there listening. We had put out a call for questions on our Bluesky at the beginning of, well, end of July, early August. And we got a handful of questions, so let's see, what should be the first one?
Music shifts to a dreamy melody [43:15]
Dax: All right here let’s start with this one because it does refer to earlier in the season. So how do you think your character feels about the way things played out for the whole children mystery? You know, that mystery that we had going for, like, six seasons? Do you think that they are disappointed that they aren't considered the saviors in the end? Because it had been, you know, and I'm elaborating beyond the questioner's actual text right now, but I mean, y'all had started out the… this, this whole podcast started out with Eight and their companions being assigned this- this mission from the mayor of Saleen, back when we started as a Dungeons and Dragons live stream. And Rou kind of took on this mantle, this is- this is something I'm helping out with. And we brought in Trix, and then it kind of fell out that the party ended up essentially being like the distraction while Indy and Company went in with the Sultan's army to kind of finish the job. So, how do you think your character feels about how things ended up playing out at the end of the last season. Or rather, beginning of this season, technically?
Sebastian: I think that, for Trix, the moment with the tentacle monster was more of a grappling with the idea of heroism and consequences than this moment was because they weren't coming in into this story with the big mission to rescue these children. This just kind of happened to be the main goal of the party that they joined. It's not to say that they didn't end up caring about this mission, but they didn't have it in mind as the goal or the reason for being here. So, I think that when they found out that that situation was resolved, they were like, "oh, okay, great, this is one less thing for us to worry about, and now I can go back to worrying about my grandfather."
Kappa: I kind of grappled with this as a player. I think, when it came to Rou, he was traveling with Eight for quite enough time that there was enough of an emotional investment in this. But with the absence of Eight it's kind of hard for him to feel like it was worth it. You know? I know we hand waved it in and- and it was taken care of mostly in like a montage if we were, if this was a visual medium. Because the important part of that journey is…was Eight. To me, it's very bittersweet, almost, uh, almost tragic in that regard. If we had given a little bit more time for Rou throughout seasons two through five to get emotionally invested. to understand what's going on when it came to the children, like, find some other connection other than through Eight to the children, there would have been a bit more? But I still think where we- where we ended up was the right call. I don't feel disingenuine in Rou's reaction and my performance to that.
Dax: Yeah, both very good points. I mean, you had very different levels of buy-in for the… the… you know, if we look at it like a video game, like, the main mission. As opposed to how Eight might have felt about it had Eight been around when everything was resolved. I know Wren, technically, the audience is asking, like, for Rou and Trix's perspective, do you- do you have anything you want to add, since you know, your last character was the tie-in, or do you want to leave it as, you know, this is because this is technically addressing Rou and Trix?
Wren: I mean, I think the only thing I can really say is that Eight's big regret would be that they did not get to see the mission completed. And as far as they know, they fell into that pit of magma without resolving that problem. But I think they also would have looked to Rou and said, my friend will take care of this in my stead and felt some peace of that.
Dax: Which does lead us into the next question that got asked, and that was, what was behind the decision to switch out Eight for Elaith. So, obviously this is going to be a Wren only question because it would be your character. And I know we, as a party, as a table, rather, talked about this at the end of season six, you know, we had a chat and a discussion about how we wanted to proceed, and obviously Wren got to weigh very heavily in that because it is Wren's character. But we didn't really do that for the audience's benefit. So, Wren, what are your thoughts on what the audience is asking you here?
Wren: I don't think that there was necessarily a decision to switch one character for another? I think the way this scenario had played out through a series of unfortunate dice rolls, it became clear that Eight's time at the forefront of the adventure had kind of run up and that they were doomed in a sense. What the audience doesn't know was I was given the opportunity to decide if I wanted to continue playing Eight after the fact. And that was a bit of a twofold decision.
The first part was, you know, Eight’s been... Eight had been around since the beginning, since the advent of the podcast and Eight had been a part of the adventure to rescue the children since it was first conceived. With the resolution of that aspect of the story, I felt safe retiring the character for that...that reason. The other portion of the decision was that we had just seen another character die in the season prior. And the idea of a second character getting basically a new lease on life in a potentially life-threatening slash life-ending scenario felt like it cheapened death to me. I'm not saying that Rou escaping death cheapens it. I'm saying that it advances Rou's story. And it fits for the way the narrative goes, but I didn't see it as a continuation of Eight's story in that sense. I felt it was time to move on from the character and introduce a new one from there, so.
Dax: What else could I say? I mean, it's your character, you get to decide how you want their story to end or continue, and... Yeah, all good points. So, for- for the three of you: Were there any moments that you think that, looking back, your character should have handled differently?
Kappa: In this this past season?
Dax: In this past season, yep.
Kappa: I do think we should have handled the negotiations a little bit differently with Captain Lucy. [laughs]
Sebastian: Yeah, that's… yeah, I would agree with that.
Dax: [trying not to laugh] Okay, elaborate. Like, how, how would you have done it differently?
Kappa: So, as much as I say that we- they knew exactly what they were getting into the fact that we promised them half of everything that we find. But with the expectation that we were actually going to find some stuff. Yeah, I don't know. I feel like there could have been another way to, um… maybe stow away? That would have been interesting, instead of, like making a promise that we can't fulfill. On paper we fulfilled it. On paper. That doesn't feel great, like, to have that asterisk on paper, you know, technically we did.
Dax: I mean, to be fair, you found some coins. You found this compass. You gave her everything you found, which is more than you agreed to. So, yes, on paper you fulfilled your promise.
Kappa: Personally, I think it would have been more true to the group as a whole to not have to have that asterisk and instead stowaway or something, like -
Wren: You feel like it was a less heroic kind of moment for the party?
Kappa: I think… I think so. I think it was, yeah, less heroic, very, like lawyer-y? Which none of our characters, maybe Elaith, we haven't, like, 100%… like, fully but like between- between the- I think it felt too...Billboard... billboard lawyer-like, you know, of a play.
Wren: Almost like an underhanded technique? Yeah.
Kappa: Yeah.
Dax: Yeah, that’s fair.
Sebastian: I was going to say, it feels like the sort of thing Trix would be happy to do, where it just any random client for any random, like, shady job that they were doing? But coupled with the fact that we were somewhat responsible for the crew's deaths and that the vibe on board the ship was not the greatest. And also just the fact that they'd staked their- their hopes of finding the treasure, just because this whole time like. Trix was like, "oh, we need to find the treasure.". And, like, when Ashaña asked, "like, what do you want?" Uh, yeah, we wanted Elaith's plant, but Trix was straight up like, "Listen, we need treasure to bring back to the crew. Is there any treasure still on this island? Can we please have some treasure?" [chuckles]
Like, you know, they really did try to uphold that, but I think that- and I think that was a really... that was an interesting kind of character moment, because I think that they look- they look at that and how that played out and be like, eh, like this is sort of thing I would have done, like maybe last year, but this year not so much. This doesn't...it doesn't feel great for them. [groans] Yeah.
Wren: Character growth? In my podcast?
Sebastian: It's more likely than you think!
Wren: Things that Elaith would do differently? Honestly, I'm still getting a feel for the character and I think that I've made decisions pretty on par with the way they would be reactive to things as presented. They'd be cagey about their backstory. I don't think Elaith feels bad about the way they handled the negotiations. I think Elaith is like, "Yeah, if we, we made a deal. They willingly signed on to do something with no guarantee of payment. That's their fault. I'm getting what I need and that's what matters most to me." Honestly, I think Elaith is a little bit of a son of a bitch.
[Kappa laughs]
Dax: Little bit. Little bit.
Kappa: [laughing] It's good. Very...scoundrel is the wrong word for this. Very…
Dax: I don't know, scoundrel seems right.
Kappa: Scoundrel in the sense of like, I don't know, like...
Wren: It's very selfish.
Kappa: Yeah, very...yeah.
Wren: Self-serving. Yeah. I mean -
Kappa: Which I think is very cool of a dynamic to mix in.
Dax: Very Lando Calrissian, but without the benefit of being able to look at Billy Dee Williams, you know what I mean?
Kappa: There you go.
Sebastian: Without the bravado.
Dax: Yep, exactly.
Wren: Yeah, and no capes.
Dax: No capes. Gotta get Elaith a cape.
[Wren laughs]
Sebastian: Yeah, Trix got Eight a cape. Speaking of- speaking of which, I think Trix would have liked to have spent a bit more time like sitting with the fact that Eight is gone as opposed to like trying to, you know, bury the feeling by moving on to the next thing. I know also there was a time skip, but I think that Trix could have given themselves a bit more of a moment to kind of reflect on that and think about, you know, how, like, Rou and Eight were essentially the first proper friends that they ever had and now one of them is dead. Well, both of them died at different points, but, you know, now Eight is dead forever.
Dax: Yeah, I can understand that point. I mean, like you said, we did do a time skip, so, it's not to say that they didn't, but I can see your point of view and I can understand, uh, feeling- feeling that way.
Sebastian: They are also wondering like if this means with the whole scion of Bahu situation with Rou, if this means that Rou is like immortal? Or if Rou dies again, then, you know, Bahu will come in and save him, or if- or if Bahu will be upset about that, and then Rou is going to be condemned, like, Trix is, like, now has to grapple with all these kind of questions about death maybe not being the end. And also all of that kind of thing, like, death is the end and, you know, someone else up there is pulling the strings and Trix...Trix doesn't really like the idea that the gods are making choices on behalf of the people who live on this plane. And there's a non-zero chance that this whole thing ends with Trix deciding to fist-fight the gods. I don’t know. [chuckles]
Wren: [laughs] Kratos arc?
Sebastian: Yeah.
[Kappa laughs]
Dax: Look, you know, if you want that to be a long-term goal for the character, like, by all means, add it- add its to your character channel, you know?
Sebastian: No, I think- no, I think they're just- they're kind of trying to get a feel of it, because, uh, these beings are vastly more powerful than them, and know vastly more information than them about everything. These are just kind of completely incomprehensible beings. But their whole situation with, like, you know, they don't like authority, they don't like authoritarianism, and, you know, people who, uh, have no regard for the people whom they're supposed to be taking care of and that kind of thing. And so they…kind of needs to see a demonstration of essentially, like, good leadership and good- good practices and caring practices from these authority figures to want to be inclined to trust them to just do their thing.
Wren: Hear that Bahu? You get one chance.
Sebastian: Yeah.
[Kappa chuckles]
Dax: Oh boy. Wrong… wrong deity to challenge that choice to. But sure.
Kappa: A lot of the questions that you're bringing up, especially at the beginning of that response. Very much is something that Rou is going through. Something that I'm thinking about. You know, like what that means narratively, not necessarily existentially, but…
Dax: As always, if that's something you want to actually explore in season eight, like, take the time to do so, absolutely, I could easily put something in there that might give you an opportunity to trigger that reflection if you wanted.
Kappa: Yeah, I think this whole season has been kind of like that.
Wren: Season eight would be a perfect time to reflect on Eight.
[everyone laughs]
Dax: It's the best number, right?
Wren: Yeah.
Dax: And the last question in the mailbag episode, thank you very much, audience, for submitting these, is: What is the goal hat you are setting for the next season, and they put in parentheses, assuming there is a next season. Because at this point, we hadn't aired our final episode, right? So, the audience doesn't quite know that season eight is coming. So. [whispers] Season eight is coming.
Sebastian: Well, spoiler, season eight is coming.
Wren: You can't get rid of us! A goal? I mean, love to destroy that orb.
Kappa: Yeah, it doesn't have to happen in season eight, but I'd like to start laying down Rou's eventual, either, close or exit or resolution. Somehow, to his- his story. Again, doesn't have to happen in season eight. I think that would be too fast to introduce to- to accomplish in season eight, but I think that's something that I'm gonna start, long-term setting down the framework for.
Dax: Alrighty.
Sebastian: I don't know if it's too ambitious to kill my grandfather and take over his cult and turn it into something less... less cult-like is doable in this season? But that's- that's Trix's main long-term goal. Because they think that... they might fall into the trap of being like, oh, well, you know, maybe a dictatorship isn't bad if I'm in charge, and then that's a very slippery slope.
Kappa: [laughs] Yeah, yeah!
[Wren laughs]
Kappa: You're not doing authoritarianism as good as I could.
Wren: I could do it better.
Sebastian: No. I'm… yeah, I'm different. Yeah, but like, they definitely do want to, I mean, their kind of long-term plan is if they get rid of their grandfather and then, you know, the blood oath secures them the future of the Adar-kai Empire or what have you. Ideally, they'd like to make it such that it's not an empire at all, and we can stop doing warmongering and, I don't know, maybe implement some sort of democracy, but that's a whole... That's something that's not necessarily within the scope of gameplay. It's something that, you know, I could probably say happens later if Trix manages to do any of this at all, which is, you know...Yes, spinoff season. It's just fifty episodes of Trix being like, "So we have to pass some laws, oh man, I need to appoint- I need to appoint a judge and probably several judges. Oh, I hate bureaucracy." Like, it's gonna be -
Kappa: That's the spin-off season?
[Kapp and Dax laugh]
Sebastian: But Trix is really hoping that the blood oath will kind of come through for them and then they don't have to deal with the whole if I kill my grandfather, then none of his faction is going to be loyal to me, and then I'm just gonna die. Because they're, uh, they're...they're hoping a lot without very much evidence that their hopes will come true. So, it'll be really funny and really fun to- to see where that goes.
Wren: I think as far as like Elaith's actual story, we have established that the plant that was being looked for has been obtained. Assuming it survived us being washed ashore on this island. That's the other thing we haven't really talked about since that happened, was like, where did all of these plants go? How long will they last? So, uh, there's a ticking clock, in my mind, about how long we can sit around here in Seaport before those plants are just gonna wither up and die. And it would be nice to establish some sort of cure to the problem that Elaith caused. But I'm also 100% under no illusion that Elaith will easily be able to get back home, if that is the case. Solving the problem and fixing the problem are completely different things.
Dax: Something your characters want to address, just gotta take reins and go for it. If Elaith wants to be like, I need to go home now.
Wren: I was just in a cage the other day!
Kappa: It's also been a day and a half! Right? Like...
Dax: I mean, it's been a couple days. It feels longer in game, but it definitely has not been...well, not that. But, um. You know, I mean, like, and obviously any of these are pretty doable for, at the minimum, laying the groundwork in the next season, maybe more so depending on how much you're you really want to take the reins with- with these things, and I know…I know Trix has essentially been told how to do that. It's just a matter of...how do they get it done, right So, it's- it's fine. I'm sure it's fine. I'm sure everything with Bahu and this orb will be resolved relatively quickly and the party will have a super easy season eight. No issues whatsoever.
Kappa: None!
Sebastian: What could possibly go wrong?
Wren: Who's worried?
Kappa: Feral Vampire Liam? Absolutely not gonna happen.
Dax: What? What?
Kappa: Oh no!
Dax: Feral vampires in my game in this economy?
Sebastian: And he also has my blood.
Dax: And he also has your blood. It's great.
Wren: Yeah! [chuckles]
Dax: It's… nothing weird can come of that. It's a wizard vampire that has access to your blood. Actually, it's not the first NPC that has access to your blood, it's fine.
Sebastian: We gave a witch our blood, too.
Wren: Yeah, what's with that witch? Y'all make questionable decisions with your blood.
Sebastian: It wasn't really much of a decision.
Dax: That won't come up later, I'm sure.
Sebastian: We needed that- we needed that sword.
Kappa: Yeah.
Wren: Yeah.
Kappa: Yeah... Oh, The Seven Swords, too, like, we got, like... I don't know what we're gonna do that anymore, but I'm still...I'm still curious about The Seven Swords. If anything, we got some cool companion NPCs just to...
Sebastian: Maybe they can help me de-engineer the empire. Maybe.
Dax: Maybe? I mean, especially if you have to destroy a connection to a god in order to kill your grandfather, I mean…
Sebastian: Yeah; however, souls inside of gems is not a reliable system of government.
Dax: That was not exactly where my brain was thinking you were going with that, but apparently that's where your brain was going.
Sebastian: No, no, it was a joke about, like, the women holding swords is not a reliable system of government meme, but yeah.
Dax: Oh, okay.
Sebastian: You know...
[Dax laughs]
Dax: Okay. So with that, that's the end of our talk back, unless there was anything else that you players wanted to bring up and talk about. That's everything that I had as far as the recap and the Q&A piece.
Kappa: Oh, this was a good time. I think that any questions that I have, it's more along the lines of, like, questions for season eight that pertain more to the table than it does for audience stuff, so… That's where I'm at. I really like this season. This- this was a great season. We got some shakeups, and I think we had some really, really good, just, episodes where we showcase what the table can do. Not necessarily so much what the party can do, although we did get that, too. But specifically, I think what this table can do is really, really top of- top of its game this season.
Sebastian: Yeah, I agree with that. I think it was a great season. I love playing with you all.
Dax: Can't guarantee for season eight, but I do have some guests that are in the docket that I'm -
Kappa: Oh, we have guests? Nice. Nice.
Sebastian: Ooh, we got guests?
Dax: With that, then, let's do a sign-off, you know, players tell folks where they can find you, and then we will see everybody back when we return for season eight.
Wren: Looking forward to another season.
Sebastian: I'm Sebastian Yūe. I play Trix. Please don't find me, actually. I have left the internet, and I'm living- and I'm living a- I'm living a very peaceful offline existence. So do me a favor and don't find me. I'm good. Thank you.
[Kappa laughs]
Kappa: My name is Kappa. Christian is okay, too. I'm on the internet at thekappachris, most places, um, Bluesky is where I'm most active. I also have been scaling back a lot of what I'm doing on social media if. You liked what you saw this season, uh, and out of- out of Rou and all that stuff, I do update on Bluesky most reliably of all the projects that I'm on. They are far and few in between now, but that's just how I intend.
Wren: I'm Wren. I am an agender variety streamer, TTRPG performer, podcaster, audio engineer, game writer, and professional game master. You can find me all over the internet at ThornyDryad. That's like a prickly bush. You can find all the projects I am a part of and all of the things that I do there. Uh, so thanks!
Dax: And I'm Dax. You can find me on Bluesky at gmdax. I do charity stuff on my Twitch, which you can find the link to on my Bluesky, and, you know, I've got a Star Wars AP that's going on on my channel as well using the same Star Wars by EDGE Studios as the podcast you're listening to now, even though we are not Star Wars, we are Genesys RPG, but the same company, same format, same narrative dice rolls. [pauses] Man, Dax, that was confusing, that was probably could have been worded better.
Kappa: No, that was fine. I tracked it, that was good.
Dax: But yeah, while many of us may be taking a kind of a step back from social media, you know, audience, we do appreciate you tuning in and listening to our episodes. As of this recording, we are less than 300 downloads from 15,000.
Kappa: Holy peeps, what?
